Westwood Joining Williamsport Tournament This Weekend

By playing in the tournament, Westwood aims to reach the Little League World Series in August.

Westwood's own Little League players will be taking part in the start of the Williamsport Baseball Tournament this weekend. 

Westwood's team of 12, 12-year-old boys will kick off their efforts as they aim to eventually earn a spot in the Little League World Series. 

The tournament comprises little league teams from across the globe, all of whom compete with the goal of playing in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania this August. The first set of games are played at the Kelley and Wall Field in South Norwood on Washington Street.

"It is a great community event, where families come out to watch the boys play," said Sean Kennedy, whose son plays on the team.  

Additionally, the team has set up Facebook and Twitter pages, which fans can follow for updates on how the team progresses through the tournament.

  • June 30 - Westwood vs. Walpole American
    12 p.m., Kelley Field    
  • July 1 - Norfolk vs. Westwood
    12:30 p.m., Wall Field
  • July 6 - Westwood vs. Hopkinton
    5:30PM   Kelley Field
  • July 7 - Needham American vs. Westwood
    12 p.m., Kelley Field
  • July 8 - Westwood vs Norwood National
    10 a.m., Wall Field
