Girls Hockey Team Defeats King Philip

The Wolverines pushed to 2-0 for the season with Saturday's win.

The Wolverines girls ice hockey team continued a strong push on Saturday with a 6-1 victory over King Philip in Canton. 

Freshman Kat Heidleberger's hat trick let the team to the win. Meghan Kelly opened the scoring for Westwood early in the first period. Heidleberger then scored the next two goals as Westwood took a 3-0 lead.

Kelly Healey put Westwood up 4-0 with a goal late in the period. Great goaltending by King Phillip's Alyssa Stehman kept the game from becoming a blowout as Westwood put 27 shots on net in the first period.   

Hannah Orcutt scored Westwood's fifth goal in the second period and Heidleberger's third goal of the night in the third period finished the scoring.

Westwood finished the game with 53 shots on net and improved to 2-0 on the season. Goaltender Siobhan Burke got the win for Westwood.

The Wolverines play Monday at Dover-Sherborn.
