Colby, Quinnipiac Students Named to Dean's List

The students are Westwood residents and graduates of Westwood High School and Dana Hall.

Students from Westwood continue to excel at the college level.

A number of residents were recently named to the dean's list at various colleges and universities. 

First up this week is Stephanie Sukennik, who was named to the dean's list for the Fall 2011 semester at Quinnipiac University.

To be eligible for dean's list status at the school, a student must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 with no grade lower than C. Full-time students must complete at least 14 credits in a semester, with at least 12 credits that have been graded on a letter grade basis (A through C) to be eligible. Part-time students must complete at least six credits during a semester.

Meanwhile, four Westwood residents and students at Colby College were recently named to the dean's list at the school for the Fall 2011 semester.

Students whose grade point averages were 3.61 or higher were named to the Dean's List.

The following Colby College students were among those who were named to dean's list:

  • Katherine L. Gorman, a member of the Class of 2012, is the daughter of Douglas and Cheryl Gorman of Westwood, and is majoring in psychology with a neuroscience concentration at Colby. She is a graduate of .
  • Laura J. Maloney, Class of 2012, is the daughter of Kevin Maloney and Leslie Warner-Maloney of Westwood, and is majoring in government at Colby. She is a graduate of Westwood High School.
  • Connor D. Walsh, Class of 2012, is the son of Jean Walsh of Westwood, and is majoring in sociology at Colby. He is a graduate of Westwood High School.
  • Lauren G. Fisher, a member of the Class of 2013, is the daughter of Donna Cohen of Westwood, and is majoring in government at Colby. She is a graduate of Dana Hall School.

The following residents have been named to the Cornell University College of Arts and Sciences' Dean's List for Fall Semester 2011:

  • Christopher Russell Gutterson
  • Shayan Salam

In other college, news, Westwood resident Elena Maimonis recently performed in "Love in the Afternoon," an annual concert presented by the Marist College Singers organization. Maimonis is a freshman at the college. 

The student concert features musical selections about love, romance, and relationships from a variety of music genres. Students performed in solos, duets, and ensembles during two shows on Valentine's Day weekend. About 140 students participate in the Marist College Singers organization.
