The Town Pound was built in 1700 by Joseph Colburn. The pound held stray animals until they were claimed by their owners. The Town Pound is the oldest landmark in Westwood and is the image on the town seal. The large oak tree in the picture was destroyed in the hurricane of 1938. The Town Pound is maintained by the Westwood Historical Society.
