Westwood DPW Activity: April 23-29

Find out what the DPW is up to in town this week.

Among other work this week, the Westwood Department of Public Works will continue street sweeping on the main roads this week.

Here's a roundup of what else the DPW will be working on this week in Westwood:

  • Crews will continue sweeping the main streets this week.
  • Asphalt crews will be out tending to any potholes and paving work by Everett/Washington Street.
  • Crews will be out spring cleaning all town owned properties and Municipal Buildings.
  • As the weather permits, the DPW is working on the town's fields to prepare them for the upcoming spring season. All fields are currently open. The ball field will re-seeded this week.
  • Royer tree is scheduled to come into town by the end of the week to deal with a tree issue at the end of Beacon Street. Town crews will be tending to some tree issues on Hooper Street.
  • If necessary, crews will be keeping the streets open with treatment and plowing as needed for snow and ice.
  • The street light contractor will continue working to replace street lights that are out.
  • If you get a chance to drive through the cemeteries, please do. A lot of work has gone into making them beautiful.
  • The cemetery department will be finishing up the drainage work and new access road installation.

The Westwood DPW has also issued the following reminders for residents during the winter months:

  • Please do not park on the street during winter storms.
  • Remove all portable basketball and sports apparatus off streets.
  • It is very helpful if you put up markers along your property line to assist us in preventing any lawn damage.
  • If you have a private contractor removing snow on your property make sure they do not deposit it in the public way.
  • Check the town website for any snow updates.

The Westwood Department of Public Works - which maintains the town's streets, drainage systems, sewer collection systems, fields, grounds, cemetery, water quality, trash collection and disposal, recycling collection, public facilities and provides snow removal - is busy every day working to keep the roads safe for residents.
