Pfaff Wins Planning Board Race, Charter Revisions Approved

and Westwood's voters have elected a new member to the Westwood Planning Board, and have approved long-awaited revisions to the town's charter.

Chris Pfaff won one contested race for , pulling in 60 percent of the votes for that race. Opponent Peter Hack, by comparison, ended the day with 34.14 percent of the votes. 

Voters also approved , which was raised as a question on the ballot. Nearly 67 percent of those who voted were in favor of the revisions, while 10.33 percent opposed the changes. 

While it wasn't up to the level she had hoped for, Westwood Town Clerk Dottie Powers said Tuesday night that the voter turnout of 11 percent of Westwood's registered voters was still a vast improvement over the .

"It was less than I expected," she said. "I was hoping for at least 15 to 20 percent. But at least we had 11 percent come out. I'm hoping in the future more people will excercise their right to vote. It's the only way the town governs. Every vote counts."
