Westwood Police Logs: June 29 – July 5

Adolescent Dispute at Westwood Lodge

June 29, 9:42 p.m. – Westwood Police responded to Westwood Lodge after they received notice of a disturbance in the adolescent unit at the hospital. Upon arrival, the parties involved in the disturbance – four adolescents aged 14, 15, 16 and 17 – had been restrained by Westwood Lodge staff and taken to different units. No charges will be filed against those involved in the dispute.

June 30, 6:13 a.m. – Police stopped a black 1997 Nissan Maxima on Washington Street after recognizing the license plate as one that had been stopped the previous week. The driver of the car at that time had a suspended license, but upon being pulled over on June 30, said he was unaware his license was suspended, though he had no license on him at the time. Police had the car towed and issued a criminal summons for the male 20-year-old driver from Brockton for driving with a suspended license, as well as for not having a license on him at the time of the vehicle stop.

July 3, 9 p.m. – Police received reports of suspicious activity at the Budget Inn on Providence Highway. A group of teenagers, four females and three males ages 16 through 18 – from Hyde Park, Roslindale and West Roxbury – were celebrating a birthday in a room at the Inn. There was suspicion of underage drinking involved, but when police were finally able to open the door, no alcohol was found, though some beverages typically used for mixing alcoholic drinks were present, according to reports. Two of the females fled the scene when police arrived, and the remaining teenagers, who were playing video games when police entered their room, were sent home with their parents.

Safe Damaged at Spruce Drive Home

July 4, 9:22 a.m. – Police received reports of a break-in at a Spruce Drive residence that appeared to have taken place the night of July 3. The residents of the home were on vacation for the weekend, reports said, and a person checking on the home found a door from the garage to the house had been opened on Sunday. Inside the home, several drawers were also opened, and a safe in the house had been severely damaged, but not opened. There were no signs of forced entry, and no electrical equipment in the home, such as computers or televisions, had been removed. The matter is still under investigation.

Car Break-ins on Endicott Street

July 5, 8:25 a.m. – Two cars were broken into while parked in the driveway of an Endicott Street home, police said. A 2007 Acura MDX and a 2006 Toyota Sienna, both of which were unlocked, were entered and rummaged through. A GPS unit was reported stolen, and there was no damage to either of the cars.

Vandals Damage Enterprise Rent-A-Car Building

July 5, 8:27 a.m. – A front window of Enterprise Rent-A-Car on Providence Highway was broken, police said. It does not appear that anything is missing from the building of the business, and the matter is still under investigation, pending viewing of security tapes to see who might have caused the damage.

Three Car Accident on High Street

July 5, 4:44 p.m. – A three-car fender bender accident disrupted rush hour traffic on Monday. A 2006 Ford from Walpole struck the rear of a 2008 Subaru from Millis, which then hit a 2002 Acura from Malden. The Subaru and the Acura were stopped in traffic when the Ford struck them. No injuries were reported as a result of the accident, and all three cars were towed from the scene.

Family's Car Stolen While on Weekend Getaway

July 5, 5:01 p.m. – A Pear Tree Drive family came home from a weekend way to find their 2008 Audi A8 had been stolen. The car was unlocked at the time, and the keys were inside the car, according to reports. The vehicle is not yet recovered.
