Westwood Police Logs: Another East St. Bridge Accident, Hot Dog Trailer Vandalized

Saturday, July 14

Car Crashes at East Street Bridge (5:39 p.m.) - Westwood Police responded to yet another accident under the East Street bride on Saturday afternoon, resulting in closure of the road for about 15 minutes. The incident involved one vehicle, a 2007 Mercedes, which had been driving westbound on East Street when it struck the granite curb under the bridge. The driver then lost control of the car, struck the east portion of the stone wall, and came to rest facing west in the eastbound lane. The driver was transported to Norwood hospital for evaluation, according to reports.

Westwood Man Arrested (7:01 p.m.) - Police arrested 20-year-old Westwood Man on Washington Street on an arrest warrant that had been issued out of Dedham District Court. 

Trash Barrel Rack Stolen (1:20 p.m.) - A High Street resident reported to police that a trash barrel rack, which he uses to transport trash from his garage to the curb, had been stolen.

Hot Dog Trailer Damaged (10:07 a.m.) - Police received a report of damage to a hot dog trailer that was parked at during the overnight hours. The vehicle's entry door had been dented, police said, and after conducting an inventory of the trailer, officers determined nothing was removed. The trailer has since been relocated to a more secure area, and extra checks of the school property are ongoing.

Monday, July 9

Man Transported to Hospital from Amtrak Station (12:48 p.m.) - Police received a call for service to the on University Avenue on a report of a male that had been exhibiting "irrational" behaviors, specifically yelling loudly and using profane language. The man was transported to Norwood Hospital for evaluation. 

Attempted Home Break (11:14 a.m.) - A High Rock Lane resident reported to police that, upon returning home from vacation, she discovered two windows had been broken at the home. Police responded and determined that there was an intention to gain access to the home, but access was not gained. The matter remains under investigation.
