Westwood Police Log: Suspicious Activity on Sandy Valley Rd., Rocks Thrown at Cars

Police confiscate marijuana pipes from a car near Lowell Woods.

May 15, 6:30 p.m. - A Westwood Police officer on patrol came across a parked 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse parked at the end of Sandy Valley Road near Lowell Woods. 

Three occupants were in the car, police said, and upon making contact with them, officers detected a mild to moderate odor of marijuana, and in plane view was a silver grinder in one of the occupants' laps. 

In addition to the grinder, a number of marijuana pipes were confiscated from the vehicle.

No citations were issued, police said, as there was no loose marijuana found in the area. 

May 15, 9:01 p.m. - Police received a report of an individual throwing rocks into the roadway between Providence Highway and Carroll Avenue.

Police responded to the area, and it appears a vehicle - a Range Rover - was struck by a rock. There was no specific indication in reports that the windshield of the vehicle was broken, but it was damaged, police said.

The matter is under investigation.
