Westwood Police Log: One Injured in Car Accident, Underage Drinking

A passenger is transported to Norwood Hospital with a head injury after a car collides with a utility pole.

May 14, 11:17 p.m. - Westwood Police responded to the area of High Rock Street, where a 2002 Dodge had reportedly struck a utility pole.

The vehicle was traveling southbound on High Rock Street, police said, when it struck the pole in front of a residence. Police made contact with the operator of the vehicle and it was discovered that the driver of the car had been texting when the accident occurred.

A passenger in the vehicle was transported to Norwood Hospital for a head laceration, police said. The vehicle was towed from the scene, and the operator was cited for reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and unsafe operation of a motor vehicle.

May 15, 12:08 a.m. - A resident of Longmeadow Drive reported to police that a gathering was being held nearby, and that underage drinking was thought to have been involved.  

Police responded to the area and a criminal summons was requested for furnishing alcohol to minors. Because the request for the summons is being processed, police had no more details on the incident.
