Domestic Disturbances Lead to Arrest of Two Local Residents

June 18, 2:08 a.m. - Police arrested a Phillips Brooks Road resident after receiving calls for a domestic disturbance in the area. Upon arrival, police addressed a local resident, who was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, and intimidation of a witness.

June 20, 7 p.m. - Another domestic disturbance call led police to responded to Sherman Way in Westwood. There, police arrested a local resident on charges of assault and battery.

Medford Woman Picked Up on DUI Arrest

June 19, 3 p.m. - Police arrested a Medford resident after receiving reports of a one-car accident on Winter Street. Upon arrival, police found that a vehicle had collided with a fire hydrant, causing the car's airbags to deploy. The responding officer arrested and charged a Medford woman for driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as a marked lanes violation.

Police, Fire Extinguish Small Brush Fire on Blue Jay Road

June 19, 8:31 a.m. - Westwood Police and Fire Departments responded to the area of Blue Jay Road in response to a small brush fire. A responding Westwood Police officer accompanied a one-engine fire crew to find the fire near a wooded area in the vicinity of Blue Jay Road. It appeared that a student had been attempting to burn school-related papers on the previous night, according to Deputy Fire Chief Roderick Morrison of Westwood Fire Department. While the blaze was small, Morrison said the fire crew remained in the area for about three hours to ensure the flames wouldn't reignite.

Larceny Hits Local Fashion Outlets

June 21, 3:33 p.m. - Police responded to K&G Fashion Superstore on 411 Providence Highway after the business reported a larceny had taken place sometime on June 19 at approximately 9:30 a.m. Responding officers reported that several suits had been stolen from the business. The matter is still under investigation.

June 22, 12:24 a.m. - Officers responded to Westwood Clothiers & Tailor Shop at 9 School St. in response to a triggered burglar alarm. Upon arrival, officers observed that the front door of the business had been smashed, and that a breaking and entering had taken place. No one was apprehended, though police were able to discern that a small amount of cash and clothing had been taken from the shop. The matter is still under investigation.
