Westwood Police Log: Car Collisions Leave Drivers Injured

Drivers were treated for medical injuries after separate car crashes on High Street and Forbes Road.

March 4, 12:47 a.m. - The driver of a 2001 Volvo was injured in a one-car accident on Forbes Road, according to Westwood Police reports.

The accident occurred when the Volvo, which was traveling west on Forbes Road, struck a mailbox and a utility pole. The driver sustained a cut to the head and was transported to Norwood Hospital. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

March 4, 9:02 a.m. - The operator of a 2007 Toyota was treated for injuries after a one-car accident on High Street, according to reports.

The vehicle, police said, was traveling east on High Street, when it crossed the double-yellow lines into the westbound lane before crossing back into the westbound lane. The Toyota then struck a granite curb, then a snow bank before traveling a shot distance on two wheels.

The right side of the vehicle then returned to the ground, and the car then struck a mailbox, then a six-foot stockade fence, a group of trees, and finally accelerated out of a ditch across the eastbound lane of the road before coming to rest against the curb of the westbound lane.

The driver was treated for injuries at the scene before being transported to Norwood Hospital. Upon contact with the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles, police found that the driver's license had been suspended for a previous unknown incident, and was charged accordingly.

Police reports did not indicate why the driver lost control of the car.
