Police Log: Bounced Checks, Public Storage Break-In and PayPal Fraud

The following information was supplied by the Westwood Police Department for the week of Feb. 27-March 4. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Saturday, March 3

Suspicious Footprints (7:47 a.m.) - A Grove Street resident reported to police that upon waking in the morning, suspicious footprints were spotted in the snow leading to the windows of a barn on their property. There were no signs of forced entry, police said, and the matter was detailed as suspicious activity. 

Stolen Cell Phone Reported (12:06 p.m.) - An employee of  on Providence Highway reported to police that a cell phone that was left on a charger on one of the desks in the dealership was stolen. A report was filed and police are investigating.

Friday, March 2

Reports of PayPal Fraud (2:08 p.m.) - A resident of Stanford Drive reported an issue involving fraudulent activity through their PayPal account. Police provided the resident with a PayPal reference number and are following up with PayPal's fraud division.

Jewelry Reported Stolen (2:40 p.m.) - A Dela Park Road resident filed a report that jewelry had been stolen from their home. Police are investigating the matter. 

Thursday, March 1

Break-In at Public Storage (9:31 a.m.) - A manager at on East Street reported to police that an administrative office at the building was broken into during the overnight hours, and a quantity of receipts had been stolen. The investigation is ongoing. 

Wednesday, Feb. 29

Warrant Served to Westwood Lodge Patient (1:03 p.m.) - Police served a warrant to a patient at . The warrant was issued out of Peabody District Court for traffic violations.  

Tuesday, Feb. 28 

Checks Bounce at Frugal Fannies (12:32 p.m.) - Westwood Police received a report from that checks submitted by four different customers with varying amounts had insufficient funds in their subsequent accounts. Frugal Fannies is filing complaints regarding the bounced checks.
