A roundup of this week's stories on Westwood Patch.

While the heat continued its force in Westwood, a rain storm Tuesday night came in to cool things down. The state issued a Flash Flood Watch, but the Westwood Department of Public Works said things were under control, and it was unlikely a flood would cause a threat to the town's streets. Tuesday night's storm even was enough to push back the annual Fireman's Foam event until this coming Wednesday.

The DPW also announced that the School Street playground will be closed tomorrow and Tuesday for routine maintenance. The park will be reopened on Wednesday.
