Westwood Week in Review: August 16 - 22

Patch launches its 100th site, Westwood was named in a top 10 schools list, and the Westwood library helps monitor energy use

It was an exciting week for Westwood Patch, as we celebrated with our peers over the milestone of Patch launching it's 100th site in Morristown, New Jersey.

In school news, Westwood was recently named as part of a Top 10 Schools list, profiling local public schools in small cities throughout the United States.

While it may have been a slow week sports-wise, baseball seems to have poised itself as a never-ending story in Westwood, with one season beginning as another ends.

In health news, the Westwood Board of Health offered a number of tips for residents on how to protect themselves against potential disease-carrying mosquitoes. The news came in the wake of the state's first report of a human contracting the EEE virus.

While no updates have surfaced regarding the New Westwood Public Library, progress is being made, according to Library Director Tom Viti. Meanwhile, both branches of the library hosted highly-entertaining events such as Earthtunes, as well as a puppetized version of Cinderella.

Additionally, the library is now offering a Kill-A-Watt meter for residents to check out on a weekly basis. The point of the meters is to monitor one's energy consumption with various household appliances.

Bicycle lovers in Westwood can now rejoice, as Town officials will soon be installing a number of bike racks at several designated locations in town.

We continued our series profiling what former residents of Westwood are now doing with their lives, and looked at 2006 Westwood High School graduate who went on to graduate from Bentley University and start his own social networking club.
