Cell Towers in Westwood Schools: Do we need to be concerned for the Health of Our School Children?

Please join resident Michael Cagan on Tuesday, April 24 in the Westwood High School “Little Theater” at 7:30 p.m. to hear more about the health effects of microwave signals from cell towers with an emphasis on the special vulnerability of children. A general discussion will follow the presentation focusing on the challenge of keeping cell towers away from schools.

There has been an active cell tower mounted on the roof of in Westwood for the last 8 years.

On March 13, the Westwood Town Planning Board had an opportunity to vote to remove schools from the list of sites zoned to allow cell towers. The Board voted against this exclusion, so Westwood schools remain vulnerable to future proposals for construction of towers.

Although some scientists believe the levels of radiation from cell towers are harmless, many scientific studies published in the last few years point to potential dangerous health effects, especially among young children and young animals because they are going through a process of rapid growth and development.
