Westwood Artist Paints Winter Portrait

Although many are looking forward to the warm weather after such a harsh winter season, Westwood Artist recently took some time to portray the more artistic qualities the winter brought to town.

In an original 18-by-14 inch oil painting on canvas, Dunlay created the portrait, "Winter in Westwood."

Using the corner of Clapboardtree street and Nahatan street as his vantage point, Dunlay turned his artist's eye toward the First Parish of Westwood, which was blanketed in snow during much of the winter.

"This is a spot I have always found to be very beautiful, whether it be Summer, Fall or Winter," Dunlay told Westwood Patch. "I chose to paint the Winter view because of the striking color and shadow patterns created on the snow. In addition, I have always been interested in New England architecture, of which First Parish Church is a classic example."
