Land Trust to Clean Up Property This Sunday

Volunteers are invited to clean up an area of land on Clapboardtree Street from 12-2 p.m. and then enjoy refreshments and a hike.

Earth Day is quickly approaching, and to celebrate the annual event on Sunday, the at a local property on Clapboardtree Street. 

From noon until 2 p.m. on Saturday, the group will be collecting litter on and around the property at 795 Clapboardtree Street, an area that was originally part of a former Polaroid complex of Washington Street. 

WLT is requesting volunteers to help with the cleanup on Sunday, and light refreshments will be provided afterwards. Volunteers will also be invited to hike through the property

The land itself was acquired by Westwood residents Duncan and Ellen McFarland in 2006, and is now owned by the town, but is preserved by the WLT, which preserves about 182 acres of land in Westwood.

To access the land, one must drive up Industrial Drive from Washington Street, or from One Upland Road into the Upland Woods Industrial Park.

Past the Universal Technical Institute (UTI) on the left, parking is available at the end, right near the preserved property. 

A walkway extends from the property to Clapboardtree Street and .

All ages are welcome, and garbage bags will be supplied.
