Devoting Service to the Town of Westwood

With Labor Day approaching, we at Patch want to honor those who have worked hard for the community over the last year.

Here is a list at some of the many figures in Westwood who have given back to the community in one way or another:

Westwood Fire Chief William Scoble: Said Westwood Patch reader Bruce , "Chief William Scoble should be recognized for his long-term, dedicated service to the Town of Westwood as well as his continued efforts to improve services to the Community." Aside from serving as the town's fire chief, Scoble also lent a hand to those affected by the tornado that hit Brimfield back in June. 

Howard Messing: At the annual Town Meeting in May, was presented the Ninth Annual for his exceptional service on various boards in town since the 1990s.

Glad Rags Thrift Shop: During the past 33 years, the volunteers of Glad Rags have donated a sum of $725,00 to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (MSPCC). As such, the group was recognized for their efforts by being granted the this year, along with two other Westwood residents. 

Meghan Licameli: Westwood resident Meghan Licameli was also granted with a Roy London Award this year for her volunteer efforts spanning from helping a neighbor with cancer to involvement on the Westwood Educational Foundation and the Westwood Community Chest.

Chester Ansley Smith: The third to receive the Roy London Award this year, Chester Ansley Smith was recognized for his service to helping others in town, and for his involvement at the , where he serves as a deacon.
