VIDEO, PHOTOS: Families Explore Fiction With Local Mystery Author

The man behind the Ballpark Mystery Series for children visited the Westwood Public Library Tuesday night.

Fans of Mike Walsh and Kate Hopkins, the young detectvies featured in the Ballpark Mystery book series for kids, were able to meet the characters' creator this week. 

David Kelly, author of the series, visited Westwood children Tuesday night at the , where he spoke to fans and signed books.

There, Kelly explained his process for researching and writing his books, as well as what is needed to become a successful writer.

Kelly read the first chapter from his installment, "The L.A. Dodger," before presenting a slide show of his travels and samples of his works in progress. 

Fans then engaged in a discussion, asking Kelly various questions on his inspiration, what's next for the series.
