It was another exciting win on Wednesday for the Westwood Wolverines girls ice hockey team.

Westwood's Olivia Fay tipped in a shot by Katie Horsfall with 43 seconds left to lead Westwood to a dramatic 5-3 win over Canton in a battle of two of Division II's best teams.

Westwood, playing with seven varsity regulars out of the line up due to injury or sickness (including Courtney Fay, Sinead Walsh, Christine Regan, Ela Hazar, Lulu Swartz, Hannah Orcutt and Gabby Giugliano) took an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Kim Egizi.

Canton came right back and tied the game at 1-1.

Meghan Kelly then put Westwood up 2-1 early in the second period.  Again, Canton came right back to tie the game on a goal by Meaghan McKenna.

With so many players out, Westwood needed everyone to step up and Katie Horsfall did just that in the third period.

First, she stole a puck at the Canton blue line, beat two players and fired a shot past the Canton goalie for a 3-2 lead. Canton's McKenna scored her second to tie the game at 3-3.

With under a minute left, Horsfall grabbed a loose puck in the Canton end and fired a shot on net. Oliva Fay tipped the shot past the Canton's Emily Buckley for the game winner.

Canton pulled its goalie and Horsfall put the game away for Westwood with a rink length shot into an empty net.

With the win, Westwood improved to 13-3-1 for the season. Canton is 11-6.
