ReplyI often try to remove context if I can when thinking over things.. it can sometimes make things a lot easier to decide.
In this case, it comes down asking ourselves a simple question:
"Are we the type of people that would desecrate a corpse out of a sense of revenge?"I'm happy that we are not.

ReplyIf we were to desecrate the body, or take any type of action that we wouldn't do with someone who WASN'T a bad guy- we BECOME the bad guy, Tree Hugger.
It doesn't harm him at all, he's already dead. It does immeasurable harm to ourselves, by allowing ourselves to abandon our most sacredly held views as a culture, even as humans.
As I said, we have the opportunity to be better than them, better than the Westborough Baptist people, better than blind hatred and mindless rage. I am happy we did the right thing here.
Though the subject was floated by Pastor Bem, it has little to do with religious views. It is about being both human, and not allowing ourselves to become what we abhor.

ReplyTree Hugger, again, your experiences- as bad as they may be- do not justify US being like the people THEY are- and don't ever assume what anyone has and has not seen. I watched as both my parents died in an explosion- but you don't see me trying to make refineries illegal. (I am however working on a system which would prevent such explosions)
I appreciate your anger. I have plenty of my own. What is being said is that we are bigger and better than petty revenge on a CORPSE... and remarks to the contrary paint us, America, as the type of vile monsters that desecrate a body. Any body.
We are better than that, Tree Hugger.

ReplyNo, but I am the son of a lifetime officer and have been taught what it means to be an American. Men fight and die to defend the right you scoff so easily. They have died for nothing if we show that we are not willing to honor the things they died for.
If I've never worn one, I wouldn't know? Obviously you never did, or at least never understood why.
We, as AMERICANS, know. I appreciate any service you may have made, but your service in no way makes your opinion of any greater value.

ReplyThis, like the prosecution of his brother, is an opportunity to either be as bad as they are or act like we are Americans.
It's easy to be an American when times are good. It takes a spine, strength, and morals to be an American when times are tough. I am of the belief that we, the American people are better than these cretinous monsters. If we cannot afford what we call inalienable rights to the lowest, then we cannot afford them for anyone.
Decide whether you are as bad as they are. That will tell you how to act. Do any of us really care where this lump of rotting meat ends up? We ought to, as it is a reflection on who we are. Aren't we beyond this type of cowardice, or are we just as bad as these two said? I prefer to be an American with PRIDE. To not afford even this scum what we call rights... We are no longer Americans, we are nothing but the vicious monsters these brothers said we are.
We are better than that.

ReplyPhotoelectric and ionization detectors are both behind the times. Catalytic Cell detectors are capable of detection not only the particulates of smoke that are ionized or reflect light (how regular detectors work) but also pre-combustion and post-combustion gases that are totally invisible- including Carbon Monoxide. In addition to detection of the products of fire, these detectors can also detect detect dangerous conditions, such as a gas leak or flammable liquid (such as gasoline) spill vapors.
I am trying to save lives with this technology, having lost both of my own parents as a teenager to a gas explosion and fire in our home. I have made it a mission- and here is how you can help: tell people.
My Indiegogo campaign has ended, but I am assembling a website about the project, the facebook page can be found at:

Great group and a great way to help out the local community.
I had the pleasure of photographing their production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" last year, and am looking forward to further performances by the troupe!
