On the article Social Worker: 'My Moral and Ethical Standards Will Not Allow Me To Stay'

ReplyThese situations are so difficult, in part because the only people who really know what happened are the two children involved. Yes, she may have confided in a guidance counselor, but we are not privy to the full investigation that both the legal authorities, as well as the school administration conducted.
I do think it is odd that the guidance counselor, whose job requires them to relate well to students, twice in his letter seemed to take pride at his unfamiliarity (or disdain) for technology. I do not think it is relevant to this matter, but still it is odd that it was important enough to the writer for him to lead his letter of resignation with a statement about this. I don't want to harp on this, as I'm sure Mr. Fox is an outstanding individual who followed his heart and moral compass with respect to all this. But perhaps there is more to this story than any of us, or even Mr. Fox, is aware of. The issue highlights many important concerns, including the need to ensure crowded hallways and isolated stairwells are made safer for all students. But to presume that the administration did not do enough to discipline the perpetrator of this alleged act is more than any of us should do without having a full accounting of all the facts, which none of us commenting will ever have. Yes, we should talk about it and figure out what needs to change, but none of us (not even Mr. Fox) will know all the facts, so calls for Mr. Welch's head seem premature.

@Linda - Just curious how you would know that the wording of the letter "sound suspiciously like Lisa Zanella in terms of wording and language use." Who is Lisa Zanella?

ReplyI hope there are plans to re-line the roadway near the Town Common to help improve traffic flow. There should be two lanes heading south past the Common, to allow a left turn lane onto Auburn St (without holding up traffic heading downtown or to Rt 9). Also, aesthetically the wide shoulder northbound looks terrible, with those poles sticking out of the ground with reflectors. I hope those are only temporary.

ReplyFramingham should follow the lead of other towns and BAN dispensaries from operating within town limits. The town has enough problems already. If you think the concentration of social service agencies is bad, wait until we become the destination for everyone wanting MJ in MW.

Ben Affleck? I would think Matt Damon would be a better pick. Or Barney Frank if Damon is busy.

ReplyI am just curious....By clicking that link in the article above ("trick" number 1) when signing up, does that get the author of this article $10? I don't object if that is the case, but just thought if so it should be clearly stated in the article.

ReplySorry - Didn't mean to offend by the name. Is the appropriately respectful title Sir Mitt? Lord Mitt? Master Mitt?
But for once we agree. You wrote "Nobody is going to believe that this President and his enablers have been irresponsible spenders." I agree, I don't believe Obama has been an irresponsible spender. I think his spending is VERY responsible. Unlike Sir/Lord/Master Mitt who vetoed 5.7 million in flood protection for Peabody in 2004. Two years later there was a flood that cost Peabody 12 million dollars. That is what I call irresponsible and insulting.
No, not me about the Apple stock.
At least we agree on the bottom line - Vote for Obama and keep it classy. Glad I finally turned you around. Good night!

Hi Susan - I have relied on the Patch, under your stewardship, to be a reliable source of local news. Stories like this seem to blur the line between what is an advertisement, and what is a legitimate news story. Can you comment as to any official editorial policy regarding this type of thing? It is featured on the front page making it appear to be a top news item. It is sort of an editorial, but I think it is mostly an advertisement disguised as an editorial. Thanks!
