The walk kicked off Sunday afternoon at Temple Beth David.
While thousands gathered to walk for the hungry in Downtown Boston on Sunday, another committed group of volunteers did the like in Westwood's own back yard. The Westwood Interfaith Community took some time on Sunday, May 6, to walk a three-mile course to raise money in support of Project Bread. The Third Annual Westwood Interfaith MiniWalk for Hunger kicked off at Temple Beth David at 1:30 p.m. Those interested in donating to the cause can do so by visiting the Westwood Interfaith's website. Temple Beth David Sign Vandalized Westwood Police are investigating an alleged vandalism to a sign in front of Temple Beth David, which was reported on Oct. 5 at around 3:09 p.m.. According to police reports, the sign was struck with BB gun pellets. Mail Scam A resident of Westwood Glen Road reported to police on Oct. 5 at around 4:37 p.m. that a "very real" check had come in the mail, though the resident stated that it may have been a scam. Preliminary investigation revealed that it was in fact a scam run out of British Columbia, Canada. The matter remains under investigation. The Westwood Planning Board denied the proposed construction of a tower at Temple Beth David on Thursday.
A long-heated debate over the propsed construction of a cell tower at Temple Beth David came to a close Thursday night, when the Westwood Planning Board Thursday night officially denied the denied the application. Residents have continually expressed their concerns over the matter since it was first proposed in January. So, after last night's decision, we're wondering: What do you think about the Planning Board's decision?
Residents expressed further concerns about the hotly-debated tower in a final hearing Thursday.
After months of discussion and several continuances of a public hearing, the Westwood Planning Board Thursday night officially denied a long-debated proposal to construct a cell tower at Temple Beth David. The board entered deliberations on the matter after hearing further discussion from the applicants involved, and ultimately decided that the bulk of the issue came down to whether the cell tower would in fact impede on the surrounding area, aesthetically. "There is no question that this is the first (cell tower) that's immediately off a street, in front of a building, in a very visible location," said Planning Board Secretary Jack Wiggin during the Planning Board's deliberations Thursday night at Westwood High School.
