Firefighters Extinguish Car Blaze on Washington Street

Westwood firefighters extinguished a car fire Sunday afternoon.

Westwood firefighters extinguished a car engulfed in flames in a Washington Street driveway Sunday afternoon.  Captain Richie Cerullo of the Westwood Fire Department said he could not reveal the cause of the fire, but it was accidental in nature.  "Our biggest priority was protecting the house," Cerullo said.  Firefighters sprayed the house constantly with water to keep flames from spreading. The fire damaged the house's shingles and melted its siding.  There were no injuries as a result of the fire.
