Westwood's annual tree lighting ceremony will begin at 4 p.m. this year in front of Town Hall on Sunday, December 2.

The following information was provided by the Town of Westwood: The Town’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held on Sunday, December 2. This year, there is a slight change in the program. The ceremony will begin at 4:00pm (rather than 4:30) to introduce a new program. The Town employees will participate in a Gingerbread Making contest to raise money for the Food Pantry. The gingerbread houses will be on display for the entire event allowing for residents to view and a winner will be selected. Along with the regular schedule, the following will take place:

The following is the text from the Connect-CTY message that was sent out earlier this evening. In addition, please note that Westwood Public Schools and Town Offices will be closed tomorrow. The Town will have staff available to answer phones if people have non-emergency questions and/or concerns. Hello, this is Mike Jaillet , Town Administrator, calling with some important information for you to consider as you make your final preparation for Hurricane Sandy. MEMA and the National Weather Bureau have advised us that Westwood is predicted to have sustained and gusting winds at times exceeding 50 miles per hour over a twelve to eighteen hour period starting early Monday morning. Several Boards and Committees in the Town of Westwood will be meeting this week. This is a list of the when and where.
Today there are several meetings in town. Here they are, in no particular order: There are a couple of meetings tomorrow (Wednesday) night as well. On Thursday the Finance and Warrant Commission will meet at 7 p.m. to discuss University Station background issues. There will also be a WEAC meeting at 7:30 p.m. On Friday the Westwood Disability Commission will meet at the Islington Community Center at 9:15 a.m.

Among those spotted in the crowd at the reincarnation of Westwood Day this weekend were: Westwood officials, smiling families, Gail Huff, State Rep. Paul McMurtry, a clown on stilts, and many more.
It was a day filled with fun, laughs, smiles and more. The revitalized Westwood Day - an event the town had not celebrated for more than 20 years - arrived on Saturday at Westwood High School. A Vendor Village offering various items and fun experiences, live entertainment, food, demonstrations, and other items were available for all to enjoy. And nearly everywhere one could spot the creative Westwood Day logo that was designed by Westwood High School senior Danielle Kaplan. Westwood Recreation Director David Burnes could be spotted zipping through the crowd on foot or on motorized cart, shaking hands and smiling at everyone he encountered.
