Saturday, June 16 Dedham Man Arrested (1:28 a.m.) - Westwood Police arrested a 19-year-old Dedham man on East Street after pulling his vehicle over and determining that the driver had a warrant for his arrest issued out of Hingham District Court for previous motor vehicle violations. Thursday, June 14 Missing Jacket (2:08 p.m.) - A Fox Hill Street resident reported to police that she had placed her jacket on her mailbox while cleaning the yard, and later found that it had gone missing. The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Shortly before things kicked off for a brief second night of Town Meeting in Westwood, traffic was held up on Washington Street due to a two-car accident. The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Washington and Gay Streets and involved a 1997 Lexus and a 2006 Toyota. The Lexus had attempted to turn left from Gay Street onto Washington Street, when the Toyota, which was traveling south on Washington Street, ran a red light and hit the Lexus. Both cars were towed from the scene and the operator of the Lexus was transported to Norwood Hospital complaining of pain. Sunday, May 6 Stolen Check Book (9:13 a.m.) - A Boston resident entered the Westwood Police Department in regards to some fraudulent checks that had been used at Frugal Fannies at a prior date. The citizen informed police of an affiliate who allegedly stole her check book and had been writing checks without her authorization. Friday, May 4 Copper Weather Vane Stolen (4:30 p.m.) - An official at the Sheehan Elementary School reported to police that someone had stolen an eagle-shaped weather vane made of copper that sat atop a shed behind the school sometime between May 1 and May 4. Copper Taken from Site Aug. 25, 1:56 p.m. - A contractor who had been working on renovations at a home on Thatcher Street reported to police that copper had been stolen from the construction site. Specifically, about two dozen copper roofing panels were taken from the property, with a total estimated value of about $500. The matter is under investigation. Vandalism on Longmeadow Drive Aug. 29, 11:25 a.m. - Police responded to a Longmeadow Drive home after receiving reports that someone had used spray paint to paint various words on the garage door of the house. One of the images was a dollar sign, police said. The matter is under investigation.

Gasoline Theft Aug. 23, 1 p.m. - Westwood Police responded to a Spruce Drive home after receiving reports from a resident that someone had siphoned gasoline from his vehicle. Police observed the vehicle and it was reported that the ring that locks the fuel door in place of the vehicle had been bent. Storage Unit Break-In Aug. 23, 5:12 p.m. - Westwood Police responded to Westwood Public Storage on East Street after receiving a report that a unit there had been broken into. The customer who had rented out the unit claimed that a number of items had been removed from the bin, including a photo printer, a scanner and some tee shirts. The matter is under investigation.

Westwood Police responded to a Fox Hill Road home last Sunday and subsequently arrested a teen who lived at the residents. Police responded after receiving a report that a family member was out of control at the home. As such, police arrested Eric Dahl, 18, of 211 Fox Hill Rd. in Westwood, and charged him with violating an abuse prevention order and malicious destruction of property.

Westwood Police arrested a Walpole woman over the weekend for driving along High Street in Westwood under the influence of liquor. On Saturday, Aug. 27 at around 3:20 a.m., police responded to the parking lot of Dunkin Donuts on High Street, where they found the operator of a Lexus who had been sitting in the car. Upon contact, police determined that the individual was intoxicated. She was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, resisting arrest and assault and battery on a police officer after she punched the arm of the responding officer while trying to grab her telephone.

The windows of two vehicles parked at the Norfolk Golf Club last week were smashed, and the vehicles broken into, according to Westwood Police. The first incident took place on Friday, Aug. 12 between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m., police said, when the front side passenger window of a 2011 Ford was smashed in, and a number of personal items were removed form the interior of the car. On the same day, sometime between 7:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m., the rear driver's side window of a 1999 Jeep was also smashed in, and a briefcase was taken from the car, as well as a small amount of men's jewelry and a GPS TomTom. The matter remains under investigation.

Westwood Police last week arrested a Providence, Rhode Island man after he was involved in an accident near the East Street rotary on Wednesday, Aug. 11 at around 1:45 p.m. Travis Hintlian, 20, of 196 Wardlaw Ave. in Providence, was involved in a two-car accident on the rotary, after the 2011 Volkswagen he was driving struck a 2008 Honda. Hintlian then drove away from the accident and into the parking lot of the Meditech building, which lies adjacent to the rotary. Police made contact with Hintlian and found that his sobriety had been in question, and subsequently arrested him for reckless operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident and operating under the influence of drugs.
