Still time to register to vote and a couple great activities to do today.
1. There has been a change in the deadline to register to vote in the fall Primary Election. You can now register or change party affiliation until 5:00 p.m. on August 17. 2. The Westwood Laughter Circle will be meeting today at 7:30 p.m. The cost is just $10. 3. The Islington Branch of the Westwood Public Library will be having the Hunger Games Event tonight at 7:00 p.m. 4. Expect scattered thunderstorms throughout the day; however, the temperature could reach as high as 85. 5. Harry Potter night and some exercise that will get you laughing.
1. The Islington branch library is having a Harry Potter Series Event tonight at 7 O'clock. There will be book discussion, trivia and prizes. The library recommends signing up for this event. 2. The Permanent Building Committee will meet at Town Hall tonight at 7 O'clock. They will be discussing the library update, among other things. 3. The Westwood Laughter Circle will be gathering next Wednesday, August 15th for their monthly laughter yoga. Laughter yoga, according to the group, is a playful form of exercise that combines components such as deep breathing, clapping and laughter. Linda and Bill Hamaker hosted a free session of Laughter Yoga on Wednesday.
As the planned event for Laughter Under the Stars was forced inside due to rain this past Wednesday, Linda and Bill Hamaker considered it a laughing matter. "Years ago, I would have been so upset if an event I had planned to hold outside didn't work out, but now, all we can do is laugh," said Linda Hamaker, who along with her husband Bill, discovered Laughter Yoga in 2008. The pair led a group of participants in several laughing exercises and free-flowing meditation at the Westwoods Center in a free event planned to coincide with the summer solstice.
