5 Things: Tomorrow is Westwood Day

Here are some things to know in Westwood for September 21, 2012.

1. Westwood Day is tomorrow! Take a look at the schedule to find out when your favorite events are. Don't forget to stick around for the fireworks after the football game. 2. Also happening tomorrow night, although in Cambridge, former Westwood High girls basketball coach Kathy Delaney-Smith will be honored for her 30 years as coach at Harvard. The guest speaker at the event will be Hall of Fame sportswriter Jackie MacMullan, who is also a WHS alum. 3. For those who will be in town later this evening and have no plans, the Westwood boys soccer team will be playing a home game against Ashland at Flahive Field. The game will start at 5 p.m. 4. Former Westwood High Girls Basketball Coach to be Honored by Harvard

The Friends of Harvard Basketball will be hosting "30 Years of Coaching Excellence" to honor women's basketball coach Kathy Delaney-Smith, who began her coaching career at Westwood High School.

Tomorrow night at 7 p.m. the Friends of Harvard Basketball will honor longtime women's basketball coach Kathy Delaney-Smith with an event billed as "30 Years of Coaching Excellence." Delaney-Smith, who will be entering her 31st year on the Crimson sidelines, has racked up 474 victories at Harvard on the way to winning 11 Ivy League titles while coaching 8 Ivy League Players of the Year, but it was at Westwood High School where she got her start in coaching. Delaney-Smith went 204-31 during her time on the Wolverines sidelines, going undefeated at one point for six consecutive regular seasons and winning one state title. She is in the Westwood Hall of Fame. The Harvard coach won't be the only Westwood connection at Lavietes Pavillion …
