Westwood Police Log: Officers Keep the Peace

The following information was provided by the Westwood Police Department. When an arrest is mentioned it does not mean there has been a conviction.

Thursday, September 6 Officers Mediate (9:39 a.m.) - A June St. resident came into the station with a question regarding what constituted criminal harassment. The resident had been having some difficulties with his neighbor. The officer spoke to both parties and was able to mediate the dispute. Theft (10:09 a.m.) - A Grove St. resident reported that some farming/gardening equipment had been stolen from his yard. The incident is under investigation.

UPDATED: Break-in Suspect Arrested

Law enforcement agencies team up to locate and arrest suspect on the same day as the break-in.

Updated at 1:30 p.m. with quotes from Westwood Police Detective Paul Toland. Submitted by the Westwood Police Department: At approximately 10:45 a.m. on Thursday August 30, 2012, Westwood Police responded to a report of a past Breaking and Entering on High Rock Lane.  Police officers discovered a rear door to the home was the point of entry. It appeared the suspect had broken the decorative glass within the door frame and then was able to unlock the door.  The suspect stole a 42” flat screen TV, a Nintendo system and other electronics.  While investigating, police were told that a passerby observed a suspicious vehicle leaving the driveway of the residence that had been burglarized.  The citizen was able to relay to investigators the …

Westwood Police Arrest Three in Theft Charges

Three suspects were arrested for theft of property over $250.

Westwood Police arrested two Canton residents and a Hyde Park resident after receiving a broadcast from the Dedham Police Department, according to recent reports.  On Friday, April 8, at around 8:40 p.m., Westwood Police pulled over a vehicle on Upland Road in Westwood in response to the Dedham Police broadcast.  Police then arrested three individuals on charges of stolen property over $250. Items that were stolen included power tools, CDs, and a string of pearls, Westwood Police said.  Those arrested included Jared Lyons, 23, and Ashley Keenan, 21, both of 4 Palmer Dr. in Canton, as well as Tayler Welch, 23, of 15 Farwell Ave. in Hyde Park.   The three suspects were taken into custody, and other departments are filing charges relative to …
