5 Things You Need to Know Today in Westwood: Aug. 6

A concert, activity at the library and it's almost time for fall sports.

1. Next weekend is a tax free holiday in Massachusetts. There will be no tax on most items under $2,500. Have you been thinking about buying any big-ticket items? 2. This morning from 9:30-10:30 at the Islington Branch of the Library there will be The Children's Garden- Music with Ed Morgan. According to the library, "Music Man" Ed Morgan sings music for kids ages 1-99. There will be original and classic children's songs. 3. Tomorrow night at 6:30 WestwoodWinds will perform their third concert of the summer in the High School's cafeteria courtyard. Admission is free. Annual Concert Series Comes to Senior Center Green This Month

Shows begin on July 5 with the Westwood Community Swing Band.

With the big brass sounds of a swing band and the soothing, barbershop qualities of an a capella group, Westwood Summer Concert Series will be taking guests back to yesteryear through its various performances next month. Shows that are fit for the entire family, the Concert Series begins Monday, July 5 with a performance from the Westwood Community Swing Band. The group, which features 16 pieces and a female vocalist, has been performing the big band sound for over 20 years. "The bands are selected based upon successful performances in the past or simply by word of mouth.
