Snow... It's Not Over Yet

Up to 8 inches is forecasted for Monday night and Tuesday.

Spring officially begins Wednesday, but Old Man Winter seems to have planned at least one more whack before letting warmer weather in. Forecasters predict as much as 8 inches of snow could fall on Westwood Dover and Sherborn, starting tonight into Tuesday. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Winter Storm Warning beginning at 9 p.m. Monday and lasting through 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Look out for heavy snow and ice, and between 4 and 8 inches of snow, according the NWS warning. Snow will likely make Tuesday morning's commute a difficult one, the NWS warns. WHDH Channel 7 meteorologist Jeremy Reiner predicts that snow will begin falling between 11 p.m. Monday and 1 a.m Tuesday. Channel 7's forecast calls for between 4 and 8 inches of …

More Snow Marching In

National Weather Service: Six to 10 inches are expected.

Winter isn't over yet, despite spring officially starting in roughly two weeks. Six to 10 inches of snow—the heavy, wet stuff that can cause power outages—are coming, the National Weather Service in Taunton says. Late this afternoon, the agency issued a winter storm watch for much of Southern New England, including Worcester, from late Wednesday night into Friday morning.  Patch is monitoring the storm and will have updates as news becomes available.

Slick Conditions Possible Today

But, temperatures in the lower 40s are expected Monday through Thursday.

The little snow that's fallen this weekend could cause some big traffic headaches today. The National Weather Service in Taunton expects slick roads and reduced visibility, possibly into tonight. A ham radio operator reported Shrewsbury had received 2.5 inches of snow as of 8:33 a.m., the weather service says. Light snow was falling locally at 10:30 a.m. Daytime temperatures in the lower 40s are expected Monday through Thursday, the weather service says. Rain and snow showers are possible Wednesday through Friday.

How Much Snow is Westwood Getting This Weekend?

Weather forecasters are predicting lower snow amounts in Westwood than in other parts of the state.

Will Westwood get pummeled this weekend with more than a foot of snow or will it be less than a half-foot with rain mixed in? The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather watch from Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon. The NWS said a couple of inches is possible but warned that a mixture with main could create hazardous conditions. Therefore, it looks like Westwood will largely be spared from the storm that will hit closer to the Worcester area. Channel 7 meteorologist Pete Bouchard wrote on his weather blog: Storm start-up still looks like Saturday afternoon. We'll still be able to get around and the amounts will be light through midnight - in fact, we may even mix from Boston to the South Shore. (Cape sees rain.) …

'Fasten Your Seatbelts,' This One is Looking Like a Blizzard

Get your milk and bread, bring the firewood inside and get some batteries in the flashlights. This may be a humdinger!

Jim Arnold, weather specialist with Shrewsbury Emergency Management, doesn't think he's used the words "fasten your seatbelts" in a weather update more than four times in the past 25 years. On Wednesday, he did. "I think we will see blizzard conditions developing by late Friday afternoon," said Arnold. "Snow will begin around or just before dawn and should be fairly light until mid morning when it will become heavier and the wind will begin to increase. Heavy blowing and drifting snow should be our lot during the afternoon possibly reaching blizzard and occasional whiteout conditions in the late afternoon, and continuing throughout the night and into early Saturday morning." There is also the chance of seeing “thundersnow”, from embedded …

How Much Snow Will We Get Saturday?

A second storm is headed to the area and could make driving hazardous on Saturday.

A second storm of the week is headed toward New England and will dump more snow onto the area on Saturday. 7News meteorologists are predicting the area around Westwood, Dover and Sherborn to get between 2 to 4 inches of snow in the storm that is expected to start on Saturday afternoon and spread into the early hours of Sunday. The good news is that snow removal shouldn’t be a backbreaking endeavour. CBSBoston’s Todd Gutner said the snow will be “dry and fluffy for most,” though he warned that driving could be hazardous at times on Saturday.
