Riley Hoop Classic This Weekend

The tournament will take place at Westwood High School.

Beginning on Sunday, February 17, Westwood’s boys and girls varsity basketball teams will host the following teams in the Riley Winter Classic tournament: Norwood, Wellesley, Silver Lake, Watertown, Cambridge and St. Joseph’s Prep.  The annual tournament is sponsored by the Sharon Credit Union and Roche Bros., and all games will be played at Westwood High School, 200 Nahatan Street, Westwood. Westwood’s girls varsity team, led by first-year coach Shannon Clark and captains Sean Patterson and Kelly Porter, open with a 7 PM contest against St. Joseph’s Prep on Monday, February 18.   Led by third-year coach, Steve St. Martin and captains Jonathan Allegrezza, John Gephard and Joe Lally, Westwood’s boys varsity team hopes to be able to surpass …

2012 Riley Hoop Classic Highlights; Westwood Headed to Playoffs

Westwood fell to Arlington in the consolation game 71-62, but all four teams who played this week are on their way to the MIAA tournament.

Editor's Note: The following information was provided by Westwood High School's Senior Captain Glenn Parsons, who was one of several All-Stars named at the tournament this week. It may have been a vacation week for students in Westwood, but things were a bit busy for the Westwood High School basketball teams.  Westwood hosted this year's 2012 Riley Hoop Classic, which kicked off on Sunday and ran through Wednesday.  The event was an overall success, drawing fans from Norwood, Canton, Norfolk, Wrentham, Plainville, Arlington and Westwood.  The event treated fans to a handful of exciting games and a number of key plays by talented players on all team.  On the final night of the boys tournament, Arlington defeated Westwood in the consolation …
