Police Log: Motor Vehicle Crash

The Westwood police department provided the following information.

Thursday, Jan. 24 4:35 p.m.: An Aran Road resident came into the station requesting two firearms be destroyed.  5:43 p.m.: Officers received a report of a motor vehicle crash on Glacier Drive with no personal injury. A Honda was stopped when it was hit from behind by a Jeep. Neither vehicle was towed.  9:46 p.m.: Officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in a Washington Street parking lot but found nothing when they arrived at the scene.

IPod stolen- A Locust Drive resident called to report that their IPod had been stolen from their vehicle. The caller reported that they had left the IPod in the car late Friday night, so it appeared the theft had happened sometime between then and Sunday at around 6 p.m. Arrest, Vandalism- A Hillview resident called to report that he witnessed two males without shirts jumping on his car. Officers were dispatched to the address and one of the individuals was picked up and identified as the perpetrator. This resulted in a juvenile arrest. Police Log: Boston Motorcyclist Arrested and Facing Multiple Charges

Thursday, August 2 Motor Vehicle Accident- There was a motor vehicle accident at the East Street Rotary. A 1998 Dodge rear-ended a 2011 Hyundai as it entered the Rotary. Officers responded and took information for an accident report. No injuries were reported. Wednesday, August 1 Motor Vehicle Accident- A one car accident was took place around noon at the corner of Clapboardtree Street and Nahatan Street. A 2011 Porsche SUV struck a utility pole after the driver appeared to fall asleep. The driver refused medical treatment and an officer drove him home. Friday, July 27 Tailgate Window Smashed (1:51 p.m.) - Westwood Police received a report of vehicle damage, after a the tailgate window of a Sports Utility vehicle was smashed while it was parked on Nahatan Street.  Tuesday, July 24 Attempted Theft at COA (10:49 a.m.) - Police received a report of a suspicious individual at the Westwood Council on Aging, where it was reported that a person wearing "work clothes" entered the COA and lifted an umbrella out of a bag belonging to another individual. The perpetrator realized he was then being watched and replaced the umbrella before leaving the property, according to police. Westwood Police Log: Pot Smoke in a Car, Odd Solicitations and a Home Break-In

Saturday, July 21  Civil Citation Issued for Pot Use (11:53 p.m.) - While on patrol near Dela Park Road, a Westwood police officer observed a vehicle parked on the grass near a residence. The vehicle was not running at the time, and upon approaching the car, the officer found three males sitting within the car, the interior of which was hazy with smoke. The officer determined that the individuals were smoking marijuana, and confiscated a number of smoking devices. Westwood Police Logs: Another East St. Bridge Accident, Hot Dog Trailer Vandalized

Saturday, July 14 Car Crashes at East Street Bridge (5:39 p.m.) - Westwood Police responded to yet another accident under the East Street bride on Saturday afternoon, resulting in closure of the road for about 15 minutes. The incident involved one vehicle, a 2007 Mercedes, which had been driving westbound on East Street when it struck the granite curb under the bridge. The driver then lost control of the car, struck the east portion of the stone wall, and came to rest facing west in the eastbound lane. Police Log: Replica Firearms, Drunk Driving and an Odd Phone Scam

Monday, July 9  Replica Firearms Found (12:43 a.m.) - While on patrol, a Westwood police officer came across a suspicious vehicle in the area of Morgan Farm Road, and, upon contact with the occupants of the vehicle, found and confiscated a large quantity of replica firearms. The items, which included some starter pistols, were seized for safe keeping and the individuals were sent on their way, according to police reports.  Friday, July 6 Norton Resident Arrested (9:22 p.m.) - A 47-year-old Norton man was arrested for drunk driving last Friday after being involved in a three-car fender bender on High Street. Sunday, July 1  Westwood Man Arrested (8 a.m.) - Westwood Police arrested a 20-year-old man in the area of Winter Street and Dela Park Road for being a minor in possession of alcohol. The man was spotted walking down the street carrying a bottle of vodka, police said.  Saturday, June 30 Westwood Lodge Patient Escapes (6:32 p.m.) - Westwood Police received a report of a 28-year-old patient having escaped Westwood Lodge Hospital on Clapboardtree Street. The man eloped from the facility by climbing over a newly-installed fence in the basketball area meant to prevent escapes. The patient, police said, was not deemed to be dangerous, and Westwood police searched the area with the assistance of a Massachusetts State Police K-9 unit. On July 1, …

Sunday, June 24 Missing Mail (7:26 p.m.) - A Washington Street resident reported to Westwood Police that a package had been delivered to his home by FedEx, but was taken off the porch.  Saturday, June 23 Vandalism to Business (4:20 p.m.) - Police received report from a business on University Avenue that someone had vandalized a group of trucks at a building. Specifically, someone had poured sand down the engine filter of the vehicles, which was accessible via the exterior of the trucks.
