Letter: Schools Reply To Emergency Medical Response Deadline

The Assistant Superintendent of a local school system wrote to us regarding a recent Patch article.

Recently, Patch reported that local school systems were among the 125 schools that did not meet the deadline for submitting an emergency response plan before the Sept. 1 deadline. Here is a response from the Dover-Sherborn school system.    In response to the recent article appearing in the Dover-Sherborn Patch concerning the reported delinquent status of the Dover-Sherborn Schools' Emergency Medical Response Plans, we wish to offer this correction. The Superintendent of Schools recently worked with the clinical team at the schools in producing an Emergency Medical Response Plan for the school system.   The DESE did not regularly communicate information about the Emergency Medical Response Plan regulations to appropriate district personnel…

Letter to the Editor: Thoughts From a WHS Graduate

A note from Westwood High School 2011 graduate Harry Clapsis

Editor's Note: The following letter was submitted to Westwood Patch by Harry Clapsis, a recent graduate of Westwood High School's Class of 2011.  Last Sunday was the graduation for the Westwood High School Class of 2011, a class I was apart of. This wasn't just a graduation from Westwood High School, this was a graduation from the Westwood Schools. Having spent the last 12 years of my life in these schools, I thought a small commentary would be appropriate. I started off my school career in the Martha Jones School, a school that was expanding while I was a student. You could see that even at the smallest, yet arguably the most important, levels of education, Westwood strived to be the best. The district would not allow any students to be …

Letter to the Editor: Resident Responds to Firing of Track Coach

Steven Fitzsimmons, Jr. expresses his reaction to the recent firing or Westwood High School track coach Tom Davis.

Editor's Note: The following was submitted as a letter to the editor by Steven Fitzsimmons, Jr., a Westwood resident, in response to the recent firing of Tom Davis, former head coach of the Westwood High School boys' track team. Superintendent Antonucci, administration officials, and all others it may concern: In a recent announcement on the Westwood Public Schools website, Superintendent Antonucci writes, "While I cannot discuss the specifics of a confidential personnel matter . . ." This is a personnel matter that affects many students, parents, and employees of the Westwood Public School System. This "personnel matter" as you put it, deals with a public employee that is paid for by state and town taxes. Therefore, it is not a "…
