Construction Alert this Weekend on I-95/Route 128

There will be multiple lane closures on I-95/Route 128 South near East St. (Exit 14) on Saturday and Sunday.

The following information was provided by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation: Beginning at 7:00 PM on Saturday, October 27 and continuing through 12:00 noon on Sunday, October 28, there will be multiple lane closures on the section of I-95/Route 128 South in the vicinity of East Street (Exit 14) in Westwood to allow work crews to complete roadway reconstruction and paving operations.    Appropriate signs, channelizing devices and traffic control measures will be used to guide drivers through the work zone. MassDOT encourages drivers to seek alternate routes, to avoid delays.  Drivers that must travel through the affected area should expect delays, particularly during the period on Sunday, October 28 between 6:00 AM and 12:00 …

Paving Completed on High Street; Library Construction Continues

A section of High Street was paved today, with a detour set up at Gay Street. The library consruction also continued.

Today was the second day of paving and construction on High Street/Route 109, which resulted in a lane closure and detour at Gay Street. The paving was completed at about 10:30 p.m., but needed to dry until 12 p.m. because of the intense heat. The lane was closed until then, in an attempt to let the pavement dry and not be ruined by passing cars. The paving was to cover up a capped water main that was originally from the Colburn School. Westwood Police Officer Maryellen Smith was at the site for traffic purposes, and said that there had been no issues throughout the morning. She said that there had been minor backups by traffic, but nothing major. The detour took vehicles from Gay Street, to Fox Hill, and back onto High Street. …

Library Construction Continues with Lane Closures Today and Tomorrow

Update on the library construction and road paving.

Beginning at 9 a.m. today there were lane closures on Route 109/High Street due to the library construction and paving project. According to DPW Director Vicki Quiram, there was a detour throughout most of the day, which was set up at Gay Street. She said that since this was not during peak hours, the department did not receive any complaints. "No complaints to us is a good sign," said Quiram. Westwood Police also reported that the day went smoothly and the department received no complaints. The lane closures were scheduled to last from 9 a.m. until at 3 p.m., but wrapped up early.
