State Police Warn Drivers of Black Ice as Temps Drop

The National Weather Service issued a flood and a hazardous weather outlook for Westwood Wednesday afternoon.

So long, warm weather.  As temperatures in Westwood and throughout the region began to drop to a more average level for the month of December on Wednesday, Massachusetts State Police issued a warning about driving in poor weather conditions. The warning comes after the National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook and a flood watch for most of the state, including Westwood, on Wednesday.  While some areas throughout the state will see rain change over to snow, Westwood will see a majority of rainfall throughout the evening, according to NWS. Flood Watch in Effect Through Tonight

There have been no reports of flooding in Westwood as of noontime Monday.

The National Weather Service issued a Flood Watch for several areas of the state Monday morning, including Norfolk County, and, subsequently, the Westwood area. "Widespread rainfall of 1 to 3 inches is expected across the watch area during today into this evening," the NWS statement read. "However, the potential exists for some areas to receive 3 to 5 inches of rain." A flood watch means there is potential for flooding based on recent forecasts, according to the NWS. While the roads will undoubtedly be wet throughout the afternoon in Westwood, the good news is there are no reports so far of any significantly-flooded areas.
