Sen. Walsh: Casinos Won’t Bring Economic Development
Walsh, whose district includes Westwood, voted against the bill to license casinos in the state.
While many have claimed that bringing casinos into Massachusetts would provide some stability to the state's economy and bring in more jobs, Sen. Marian Walsh believes just the opposite. Walsh, whose district includes parts of Norfolk County including Norwood, Dedham and Westwood, said she has done extensive research regarding legislation for casinos in the state, and how they might affect the economy. "I really had to learn a great deal," Walsh said. "And what I came down on was that the premise is that having casinos and slots either at casinos or having separate places for slots, some people maintain that that's economic development.
