Home Break-Ins Continue, Police Investigating

A significant development was made in one of several recent break-in investigations, police said.

A recent string of home break-ins two weeks ago continued last Thursday with another incident on Fox Hill Street, Westwood Police said. The most recent incident occurred on Thursday, March 8, between mid morning and early afternoon, when a resident of Fox Hill Street came home to find a number of items stolen. “It appears that entry into the house was gained through a window off an enclosed breezeway toward the rear of the home,” Westwood Police Detective Paul Toland said in a statement. A computer, jewelry and other personal items were taken from the home. Dorchester Man Arrested in Dec. 5 House Break

The 18-year-old is accused of involvement in two break-ins, one in Westwood and one in Needham. Note: Any charges mentioned do not indicate a conviction.

A Dorchester man suspected of a break-in last month in Westwood was arrested last week by Needham Police. Dominique Milton, 18, of Aspinwall St. in Dorchester, was arrested on Wednesday, Dec. 28 at around 11 a.m. after Needham detectives, with assistance from the Norfolk County Police Anti-Crime Task Force and Boston Police, executed an arrest and search warrant.  Milton is being charged in an investigation into a pair of house break-ins in both Westwood and Needham.  The Westwood incident took place on Monday, Dec. 5 at around 6 p.m., when Westwood Police responded to the report of a break in on Fieldstone Road. Westwood Police Log: B&E to Fieldstone Road Home, Storage Unit

Fieldstone Road Break-In Dec. 5, 6:03 p.m. - Westwood Police received a report from a Fieldstone Road residents who, upon arrival home, discovered that the house had been broken into.  Entry to the home was gained through a sliding glass door facing the back yard, police said. Three laptop computers, as well as cameras, iPods, flatscreen TV sets and jewelry were among the items stolen from the home.  The matter remains under investigation.  Storage Unit Rummaged at Westwood Glen Dec. 6, 3:34 p.m. - A Westwood Glen resident reported to police that some items were discovered missing from her storage unit at the complex. Among the items missing were some Halloween decorations, as well as some seasonal decorations.

Police Log: Break-in at Islington Community Center, Damage Resident's Basement Window

Islington Community Center B&E  Nov. 28, 6 a.m. - Westwood Police received a report that someone had broken into the Islington Community Center during the overnight hours and took a desktop computer from the building, as well as some juice boxes. The suspect, police said, also vandalized part of the property, having discharged a fire extinguisher and damaged door knobs.  The matter is under investigation.  Basement Windows at Home Damaged Nov. 28, 12:17 p.m. - Police received a report that the basement windows of a home on Schaefer Avenue had been damaged at some point during the previous week.  Specifically, two adjacent window panes had been kicked in from the outside of the home, police said. Dunkin Donuts Break-In Could be Connected to Other Incidents

The following information was supplied by the Westwood Police Department.

A break in at Dunkin Donuts on Washington Street Monday night could be connected to similar incidents that have occurred in Norwood and throughout the South Shore in recent months, Westwood Police said. Police responded to a burglar alarm at the coffee shop around 9:43 p.m. Monday; a key holder to the business arrived shortly thereafter. After viewing surveillance footage, police determined that two suspects were observed entering Dunkin Donuts through a side door, and made an attempt to access a safe, but were unsuccessful. The suspects then attempted to enter the store's office, and were able to do so, but  were in there for a short period before exiting the coffee shop through the same door through which they entered.
