Police Log: Arrests for OUI, Suspended License

The following information was provided by the Westwood Police Department. Charged do not necessarily indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, Dec. 18 2:03 a.m.: A motor vehicle resulted in a warrant arrest on Providence Highway. Officers arrested Timothy Gross, 32, from 3 Pickering Ave. in Roxbury. He was arrested on a warrant from the Boston Municipal Court and was also charged with operating with a suspended license and a marked lanes violation.  8:58 a.m.: Officers received a report of suspicious activity regarding a man standing in the Green Acre Road neighborhood. The man turned out to be an employee of a plumbing company waiting for a job to start.  4:03 p.m.: After a motor vehicle stop officers arrested Andre Vieira, 36 from 221 Oake St. in Brockton and charged him with driving with a suspended license and on a warrant from the Brockton District Court.  11:14 p…

Police Log: DUI

The following information is provided by the Westwood Police Department. When an arrest is mentioned it does not mean there has been a conviction.

Thursday, Dec. 6 1:49 a.m.: After a motor vehicle stop, officers arrested Scott Smolak, 36, from 285 Colburn Street in Dedham and charged him with operating under the influence and marked lanes violation.  5:34 a.m.: A resident entered the station to report being harassed by a former affiliate. An officer made contact and advised the party to cease and desist.  8:26 a.m.: Officers responded to a 4-vehicle accident at the East Street rotary. The accident resulted from one vehicle that failed to stop and rear ended another stopped at the rotary, causing a chain reaction.

Westwood Police Log: Man Parked to Make Cell Phone Call

Thursday, November 15 Arrest (12:57 a.m.) - A motor vehicle stop on Providence Hwy. yielded two arrest on criminal summons. A 22-year-old Westwood female was charged with Operating with a Suspended License and Speeding, while the registered owner of the vehicle was charged for allowing the unlicensed operator to drive. Parked Vehicle (11:20 a.m.) - A Pond St. resident called to report that a vehicle had been parked on the street for about half an hour. An officer went to check it out and found that the driver had pulled over to make a phone call instead of driving while talking. Fraud (1:07 p.m.) - A Pine Ln. resident reported receiving an email about an Internet scam asking him to send money. The reporting party hadn't sent any money, and…

Wednesday, November 7 Add to List (10:00 a.m.) - Two different residents of Bridle Path called to request that they be added to the Do Not Solicit List. Fraudulent Letter (10:33 a.m.) A relative of a High St. resident. reported that they had received a letter stating they had won a substantial amount of money. Theft (11:14 a.m.) - A business on Providence Hwy. reported that two people had seemed suspicious, and then after they left a jacket was missing. The business was expected to send their surveillance video over to the police. Army Guys (3:45 a.m.) - A resident of Gay St. reported that two men dressed in fatigues were walking down the street with bows and arrows. Let Patch save you time. Westwood Police Make OUI Arrest

The following information was provided by the Westwood Police Department. When an arrest is mentioned it does not indicate a conviction.

On Tuesday, October 30, at 1:16 a.m., a Westwood police officer was doing a routine radar enforcement on East St. when he observed a plate light not working on a passing motor vehicle. The officer pulled the vehicle over and allegedly noticed that the driver had been drinking. Richard Harding, 35 of Norwood, was placed under arrest and charged with OUI-liquor and for having a defective plate light.

Westwood Police Log: Providence Highway Arrests

The following information was provided by the Westwood Police Department. When arrests are mentioned there is no indication of convictions.

Sunday, October 28 ARREST (12:37 a.m.) - An officer observed a motor vehicle speeding near the intersection of Providence Hwy. and Carroll Ave. The officer decided to pursue the speeding vehicle and pulled it over. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer noticed a strong scent of alcohol. Thomas MacDonald, 44 of Hanover, was arrested and charged with OUI-liquor, speeding and no inspection sticker. ARREST (3:30 p.m.) - Officers were called to the Budget Inn for a noise complaint. Upon further investigation, they found that there was an outstanding warrant out for the noisy person. Delbert Watts, 44, was placed under arrest and held in lieu of bail. The outstanding warrant was for a B&E in the daytime and trespassing.

Friday, September 7 Car Break-in (5:04 p.m.) - A caller reported that their car, a 2003 Volkswagon, had been broken into at a business parking lot on Providence Hwy. The front passenger side window had been broken and a GPS had been taken. Front Door Damage (5:49 p.m.) - A Whitney Ave. resident reported that there had been damage done to their front door at some point during the previous 24 hours. The damage appeared to have been done by a pellet or BB gun. ARREST (8:17 p.m.) - Paul Rodenbush, 51, of Westwood was arrested at the Westwood High School football game and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. UPDATED: Break-in Suspect Arrested

Law enforcement agencies team up to locate and arrest suspect on the same day as the break-in.

Updated at 1:30 p.m. with quotes from Westwood Police Detective Paul Toland. Submitted by the Westwood Police Department: At approximately 10:45 a.m. on Thursday August 30, 2012, Westwood Police responded to a report of a past Breaking and Entering on High Rock Lane.  Police officers discovered a rear door to the home was the point of entry. It appeared the suspect had broken the decorative glass within the door frame and then was able to unlock the door.  The suspect stole a 42” flat screen TV, a Nintendo system and other electronics.  While investigating, police were told that a passerby observed a suspicious vehicle leaving the driveway of the residence that had been burglarized.  The citizen was able to relay to investigators the …

Westwood Police Log: Warrants Served, Burglary and License Plates Stolen

Monday, August 20 Motor Vehicle Accident (3:13 p.m.) - A 2008 Toyota and a 2008 Ford were involved in an accident near the intersection of High St. and Church St. Minor injuries were reported, but none were severe enough to require transportation to the hospital. Tuesday, August 21 Stolen License Plates (7:47 a.m.) - The owner of a truck came into the station to officially report that his license plates had been stolen off the vehicle. These license plates had, in fact, been used on the car involved in the high speed chase from South Boston to Burlington the day before. Westwood Police Make Arrests for Outstanding Default Warrants

Police arrested a Porter Street man and a Canton woman on warrants issued out of Dorchester, Taunton.

After initially responding to a reported disturbance on Porter Street in Westwood at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 8, Westwood Police arrested local resident Daniel Gentile, 23, of 139 Porter St. in Westwood, on an outstanding warrant. The default warrant had been issued for Gentile out of Dorchester District Court, according to Detective Paul Toland of Westwood Police. Gentile was transported to Dedham District Court, and was transferred to Dorchester the following morning. Meanwhile, police responded to the vicinity of the East Street rotary at around 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15, after receiving reports of a woman hitchhiking in the area.
