New Regional Basketball Program for 4th-8th Graders
"New" Basketball Program offered through Westwood Recreation.
Residents of Westwood & Basketball Enthusiasts,
The Westwood Recreation Department has a new and exciting opportunity for basketball players to enhance their basketball skills in a team atmosphere, against neighboring towns.
The Towns of Milton, Canton, Westwood and perhaps others want to establish a program for the basketball player that is not part of an AAU, MetroWest or any travel basketball program at the current moment.

The idea is to get as many kids playing basketball in a team-oriented atmosphere and understand the concepts of playing a competitive game, but having fun at the same time.
We are looking for as many boys and girls in grades 4-8 to participate. We would like to have a team for each grade and gender but we will combine grades if need be.

There are no formal practices and games are on the weekends. The commitment is one game on a weekend. There will be a 15-minute warm-up/practice prior to the game starting. Each participant will receive a uniform. There are no standings and it's all about gaining game experience and improving their skills.
There will be a six-game schedule and the hope is to play three games at home and three games away. The season would start on Jan. 8 in Milton. We will need volunteer coaches to help out with teams. Equipment will be provided for each team.
Cost of this program is $75. Deadline is Jan. 3.
