Thinking of Others this Christmas Season

Let's think of ways to help other people this holiday season!

We all seem to get caught up in the bustle of the holidays; running here, shopping there, getting frustrasted with all that needs to be accomplished!

I have been trying to remember to take it slow and enjoy each moment, especially if it is with my kids. Something as small as taking a walk around your neighborhood with your kids to look at the lights is fun for them and they will remember it as a happy, non-rushed activity.

Present buying can get out of hand!

People start on Thanksgiving, waking up at midnight to get deals on gifts. I personally like to shop online and not get in the crowds. But with the shopping, we have lost the meaning.

My family celebrates Christmas, so we are remembering Jesus' birth, but regardless of your celebration, we should have the spirit of kindness, joy and generosity.

Instead of what we want, my family is trying to focus on others more this year. The kids picked a family off the giving tree at our church, and it said a Stop and Shop card was wanted.

It makes us think of the people out there who do not have enough to feed their families.

Lizzy's school mini course raises money to buy presents for children whose families cannot afford them; she got an 8-year-old girl who wanted an iPod or a camera and she listed her shoe and clothing size; it breaks my heart every time I read it! Lizzy's girl scout troop is buying presents for children right in Westwood, too.

Please do what you can this season to think of someone else, especially a child who is hungry or needs a toy for Christmas morning!!
