Girls Ice Hockey Pulls Victory Against Franklin, 6-4

With Saturday's win, Westwood advances to 6-1-1 for the season.

Two goals each by Ela Hazar and Kelly Healey led Westwood to a 6-4 win over Franklin in an exciting home game during Saturday's snowstorm. 

Christine Regan scored her first varsity goal to put Westwood on top 1-0 early in
the game. Healey then made it 2-0.

After Franklin cut the lead to 2-1, Healey scored again to put Westwood ahead 3-1, putting in a rebound of Regan's shot.  

Catherine Barrett then scored to put Westwood ahead 4-1, and Olivia Fay and Kristina Barounis picked up assists on the goal.

But Franklin fought back to tie the score at 4-4. Ela Hazar then took over, scoring the winning goal for Westwood late in the third period. 

Franklin pulled its goalie in an attempt to tie, but Hazar blocked a shot, grabbed the lose put and raced down the ice to put it into the empty net, sealing the win for Westwood.

Siobhan Burke made several outstanding saves to pick up the win for Westwood. Kathleen Horsfall was again a solid force on the D for Westwood.

With the win, Westwood improved to 6-1-1, while Franklin is now 8-2-1.

The Wolverines next host Dover-Sherborn Monday at 6:30 p.m. in Canton.
