Westwood Bows Out To Bridgewater

Post 320 comes up just short in South Sectional Bracket A final.

Westwood's memorable playoff run finally came to an end Wednesday night with a 12-10 loss to Bridgewater in the South Sectional Tournament Bracket A final at Norwood's Balch Field.

The three-and-a-half-hour marathon featured eight pitchers in total, and capped off an exciting day of American Legion tournament baseball.

Second baseman Mike Uradnik made his first pitching appearance of the playoffs and threw four shutout innings in relief, something no Westwood pitcher has been able to do all postseason.

"I just went out there and did my best," Uradnik said. "I want to try to do whatever I can to give my team the best chance to win"

Bridgewater jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the third inning but Post 320 battled back like they've done time and time again this season.

"When we get down, we don't give up," said Uradnik. "Were always in the game and that just shows our resiliency."

Westwood head coach Dick Paster stayed positive after the game and congratulated his players.

"They played well tonight but just came up a little short," Paster said. "We had to play a whole lot of baseball in a short time and everyone did a great job."

Rob Johnson had another memorable game for Post 320, going 4-5 with a run and an RBI. Jason Sementelli chipped in with three hits and three RBI and Connor Doonan had three hits and two RBI.

The loss ends Westwood's season, but Uradnik has high hopes for next year.

"We have a lot of players coming back, so hopefully we'll have the same resiliency and come back and win a championship next year."
