Westwood Boosters Host Pats Celebrity Game

Fans of all ages enjoyed festivities Wednesday night.

Basketball was truly in the air Wednesday night, as Westwood High School hosted the fourth annual New England Patriots Celebrity All-Star Game, put on by the Westwood Boosters.

The game featured two teams, with the first made up of Patriots players Darius Butler, Kyle Arrington, Brandon Meriweather, Jerod Mayo, Sergio Brown, retired Patriot Joe Andruzzi, and honorary player Scott Hayes. The second team featured Westwood High School senior varsity stars, as well as Booster-sponsored players.

Jack Troy, Vice President of the Westwood Boosters, talked about why the event has garnered so much attention and success.

“You find a way to be involved, because this is a great event and great opportunity to see some of your favorite sports people who play for the Patriots do something they don’t get to do very often, and that’s play basketball,” said Troy.

The event was a success for fans of all ages, as everyone went home with pictures, autographs and lifelong memories.

For some Westwood High School players, it was more about the experience than what they physically took home with them.

“It was the best going to get to play against the Pats,” said senior forward Macston Maccow.

Senior guard Christa Demovellan said her favorite memory: was, “When I got laid out by one of them, so I can just brag about that.”

Boosters, fans in attendance and local businesses, sponsored the event, all for the benefit of Westwood athletics.
