Westwood Legion Coach Dick Paster one win away from 300.

Westwood manager Dick Paster has seen a great deal of baseball over his 22 years at the helm of the Post 320 American Legion baseball team.

Following Wednesday night's 4-1 victory over visiting Franklin, the veteran skipper is just one win away from his 300th career victory.

"Well I guess part of it is longevity," said Paster. "I've been here so long that they mount up after a while. It's a milestone and there's other guys that have been coaching as long as I have, yet I don't know where they are in the list of thing so it's nice to get to 300."

Paster's players have the chance to capture this special moment by defeating Medfield today.

"I'd like to help get him the win," said catcher Gerard Florentino, who will be behind the plate for 16-year-old Xaverian Brothers High School rising junior Matt La Vita today.

Paster remarked how the possibility of earning this win reminds him of when he reached his 200th career victory.

"I remember win number 200 very well, it was in the sectionals against New Bedford," said Paster. "It's taken a little longer to get this hundred. It's kind of a personal milestone for me, but it's just another game. We'll come down here and just play ball."

Paster was characteristically energetic on Wednesday, as Post 320 defeated visiting Franklin 4-1 at Westwood High School, cheering on his team from the dugout and the third base coaching box.

Paster's 300th win will certainly be special for the coach, especially considering he isn't sure if he'll make it to the next milestone.

"I don't know if I can make it to 400," said Paster, "but to get to 300 is something to say."
