Girls Hockey Beats Scituate, Advances in Playoffs
The Wolverines now head to the Final Four in the MIAA State Tournament.

Westwood's girls varsity hockey team continued a strong run in the MIAA First Round Friday night with a 8-1 victory over Scituate, followed by a 3-2 victory in the Quarterfinals on Sunday.
On Sunday, Westwood built up a 3-0 lead on goals by Kim Egizi, Kelly Healey and Kat Heidleberger, and then hung on to win a hard fought 3-2 game vs. Gardner in a girls MIAA high school quarterfinal playoff game.

Westwood opened the scoring with a first period goal Kim Egizi, her 16th of the season, setup by Healey.
Westwood extended its lead with a second period goal by Healey, her 17th on the season, setup by Egizi and Ela Hazar. Kat Heidleberger (12th) then made it 3-0 with an assist by Meghan Kelly.

Westwood then relied on goalie Siobhan Burke to withstand a furious comeback by Gardner in the third period.
Westwood got excellent play from freshman defenseman Taylor Sweeney.
With the win, Westwood improved to 16-5-1 on the season and advanced to the Final Four in the State Division 2 Tournament.
