Hawks Baseball: Xaverian Defeats Taunton for D1 South Title

Monday marked the third year in a row the squad reached the Division 1 South Finals.

The Xaverian Brothers High School varsity baseball team rose victorious from a battle with Taunton in the MIAA Division 1 South Championship, 10-2. 

Senior captains Tim Duggan, who in December 2011  to play baseball at Fairfield University, and Chris Hoyt, accepted the championship trophy after the game, according to Xaverian's blog

It was a strong victory for the Hawks, as senior Nick Ahearn kept Taunton to two runs during nine innings, while senior Mike LaVita pulled in two runs on a single in the seventh inning. Junior Alex Person then sealed the deal with a three-run homer in the eigth, according to the Hawks' blog Monday night.

The Hawks will will now face Lowell in the Division 1 Eastern Mass Championship on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton.
