TECPA Presents, “Individualized Heathcare Plans for Young Children” with Nancy & John Muglia, Community Health Training Services

Massachusetts Child Care regulations now require that we have an Individual Health Care Plan (IHCP) for each child with a chronic medical condition. The purpose of the IHCP is to assist child care staff to provide appropriate medical care for those children with special medical needs. Since every child is an individual, each plan needs to be geared to the specific needs of the child for whom it is written. Individual health care forms have been developed for children with Life-threatening allergies, Type 1 diabetes, asthma and seizures, as well as other chronic health concerns. Best practice would dictate that each Individual Health Care Plan should be developed by a team which should include the program health consultant, the child’s health care practitioner, the parent or guardian and the director or designated staff member from the child care facility. This workshop will discuss these new IHCP’s, how best to comply with these new guidelines and other issues related to maintaining children’s health records, understanding these new requirements, and more.

The Early Childhood Professional Association (TECPA)'s Professional Development Programs are designed specifically to meet the needs of early childhood and elementary educators, afterschool professionals, program administrators, and family childcare providers.

TECPA events include a light dinner at 6:00 p.m. with program running from 6:30-8:30. Cost per person is $25.00 per program. For programming information, please contact Lori Davis at ldavis@tecpa.org. To register, please complete the easy online registration at http://www.tecpa.org.
