Massachusetts Home Foreclosures Plummet in June

Home foreclosures hit its lowest rate in Massachusetts since the Warren Group started recording housing data in 2006.

The rate of homes that were foreclosed upon in Massachusetts hit its lowest level on record since the Warren Group started collecting data in 2006.

"A total of 245 petitions were recorded in June - an 84 percent decrease from 1,548 starts in June 2012. From January through June, 2,943 petitions to foreclose have been filed statewide, down almost 69 percent from 9,425 during the same period in 2012," a press release from the Warren Group said.

An improving economy and increasing employment is creating the decrease in foreclosures, the Warren Group said.
